Statement

Capturing fleeting moments or places in time and giving them a space to re-inhabit the physical world has always been my goal whether through print, painting, or photography. The world we live in is ever changing and the things we love today might not see tomorrow. I was inspired, initially, by the classic French impressionists. How Monet spent all day painting the same cathedral façade to capture the constant movement of light and mood is a dedication I always endeavor to achieve. As I studied and developed my skills, I began focusing on the early German expressionist movement where the goal was less superficial and more about capturing the emotion or zeitgeist of their present reality. Their yearning for meaning and the nostalgia for a simpler time before the darkness are as enduring and relatable as they were 100 years ago.
